Marston Reid LLP · est. 2013 · Portland, OR
Commercial litigation,
not a brochure.
A ten-lawyer boutique representing closely-held businesses, founders, and partnerships across the Pacific Northwest. We try cases other firms settle, and we settle ones other firms over-litigate. Either way, the call you want first is the call we want too.
Practice areas
Four practice areas, deliberately
We do these four things well rather than thirty things adequately. If your matter is outside this list, we will say so and refer you on day one.
Commercial Litigation
Contract, partnership, and fiduciary-duty disputes. We try them when trial is the better play; we settle them when discovery makes that obvious.
Employment Disputes
Non-compete enforcement and defense, wage-and-hour, whistleblower retaliation. Both sides of the v, depending on who’s standing in our office.
IP & Trade Secrets
DTSA and state-law misappropriation, departed-employee matters, injunctive relief. Move fast or lose; we move fast.
Corporate Counsel
Outside general counsel for companies under fifty employees. Governance, transactions, the disputes we hope you never need us to litigate.
The record · 2013–2026
Twelve years, four jurisdictions
The firm
Ten lawyers. Two partners. One floor.
Margaret Reid and David Marston opened the firm in 2013 with the explicit goal of staying small enough that a partner is on every matter from intake to verdict. Twelve years later that’s still the rule: ten lawyers, two partners, four practice areas, one floor of a building on Taylor Street.
